Black Bean Brownie Bites Gluten and Dairy Free

This recipe is super easy to make with only 8 ingredients! All the ingredients get thrown into a blender or food processor. If you are looking for a chocolatey treat but also want something healthy at the same time, then look no further than these black bean brownie bites. I love that these brownies are in a two bite size, so you get your healthy chocolate fix and the perfect portioned size. 

The secret ingredient in these brownies are black beans!  Black beans help to balance blood sugar levels in the body. They are a great source of protein and fibre. Black beans fibre content helps promote a healthy digestive tract! Black beans provide a good source of iron and folate. 

 

Black Bean Brownie Bites [Gluten-free & Dairy-Free]

Ingredients

1 15oz can black beans (rinsed and drained)

1/4 cup maple syrup or honey 

1/4 cup coconut sugar 

1/2 cup cocoa powder 

2 tbsp coconut oil, melted 

1 tsp vanilla extract 

1 tsp baking powder

1/2 cup chocolate chips (I used enjoy life semi-sweet mini chips - certified gluten free and vegan)

 

Instructions 

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees 

2. Combine all ingredients (except the chocolate chips) in a food processor. Blend on high until the batter is smooth. 

3. Stir in chocolate chips.

4. Spray a mini muffin pan with avocado oil and fill mini muffin tin to the top with batter. Makes about 15 mini brownie bites. 

5. Bake for 18-20 minutes. Let cool before removing from the muffin tin. 

6. Store in an airtight container for a few days or refrigerate for longer. I recommend refrigerating if using 

 

Optional Healthy Chocolate Frosting 

1/4 cup almond butter

3 tbsp maple syrup or honey 

2 tbsp cocoa powder

3 tbsp milk of choice (almond, oat etc)

1tsp vanilla extract 

* Blend all chocolate frosting ingredients into a blender or food processor. Store frosting in refrigerator until ready to use. Allow brownies to cool before adding frosting.
